The Great Destroyer

Destroying books since 1999.

Seraphina - Rachel Hartman, Mandy Williams, Justine Eyre My first attempt to read Seraphina was about eight months ago. I received the ARC and dropped the book fifty pages in. I found it too boring/my mood wasn’t right. My second attempt was the Seraphina audiobook. This attempt was successful. I managed to finish it in one piece. Now, my problem with audiobooks is that I can get distracted very easily while listening to them. I usually work when I do so. My mind gets idle when I’m working.Anyway, as I was saying, I get distracted a lot and I miss many important moments. Since Seraphina was twelve hours +, I can say that I just remember around two hours of events. If not less. I’m not sure whether this is good or bad.Overall I liked the book. The MC was extremely pleasant, and ZOMG we’re talking about a YA heroine here, so show some respect! The dragon theme was cool. And that’s kind of it. I see many people loving Seraphina and calling it amazing. This did not happen to me.Seraphina ended up being a nice book. Just nice. Nothing wow it changed my life. Not great, and not bad.I am glad I managed to finish it though. I’m not sure whether I’ll go for an audiobook for the upcoming book. I guess I will, since Hartman’s writing style can easily get me bored.Review also posted on
